Iguanodon" for the fact that it serves the same purpose as an
Iguanodon, but tin be tamed much earlier in the game. Information technology'south a medium sized Hadrosaurid dinosaur that'southward common throughout the ARKs and inhabits beaches and grasslands, fleeing from the predators that attack information technology.

Dossier [ ]
This section is intended to be an exact copy of what the survivor Helena Walker, the writer of the dossiers, has written. There may exist some discrepancies betwixt this text and the in-game brute.

Species
Parasaurolophus amphibio
Time
Late Cretaceous
Diet
Plant eater
Temperament
Skittish
- Wild
Parasaurolophus amphibio has one of the more than interesting adaptations of any fauna I've seen on the Isle. Similar all Parasaur, it has a signature crest on its head. Very docile at first, I've been able to arroyo the brute without disturbing it. If startled, however, the creature can vocalize a distress call to the surrounding area that warns of danger. Parasaurolophus appears to be depression on the nutrient chain and is hunted by everything, creatures and humans akin, which explains its skittish nature. It is a good source of meat and hide, if y'all tin manage to keep upward with it long enough to kill information technology.
- Domesticated
Despite being what about tribes consider a relatively useless creature to tame, I one time met an interesting woman who had tamed an entire herd of them. She informed me that many disregarded the animal's potential. She even graciously gifted me a fancy saddle to put on my ain Parasaurolophus one day. As a relatively simple beast to domesticate, Parasaurolophus is commonly one of the first mounts a tribe will be able to acquire. Its ability to run relatively fast for lengthy intervals makes information technology a solid style of medium-range transportation, though it has almost no ability to defend itself or its passenger in a traditional sense. Smaller creatures, however, appear to be frightened by the horn of Parasaurolophus although it doesn't exercise much damage. Information technology also has decent weight-bearing capabilities, which could evidence useful for nomadic tribes as they piece of work to establish a presence on the Island.
„
Beliefs [ ]
Parasaurs are 1 of the passive dinosaurs, and volition not fight dorsum even when attacked and when you lot take one of their eggs. Nevertheless, the Parasaur is i of the fastest sprinting dinosaurs in the ARK, and tin be quite tricky to take hold of.
Despite the dossier claiming them equally a useless tame, if y'all are not looking for a gainsay dinosaur they are arguably among the nearly useful tames in terms of versatility and creative potential, especially for beginners. These animals are extremely sensitive to their environment; Ark's equivalent of a bloodhound. As such, when placed in "turret way," find and alert the actor to any mayhap hostile creature/actor in the expanse (Note: this does non include territorial animals such as Therizinosaurus). This allows players to create a fairly large detection network around even the most primitive of bases, although while in turret fashion, they are unable to move, making them easy targets, and use upwards food at a much more rapid step. Information technology's likewise not perfect, alerting to some non-hostiles, including baby animals (which can be useful to a certain extent).
In addition, this detection ability can be manually triggered while riding, making this creature invaluable while exploring new territory, or traveling through dangerous territories that a player might non want to take a more valuable beast through, as they're fast and about incommunicable to sneak upwardly on if their "ping" used regularly.
Advent [ ]
A large, bipedal dinosaur of the hadrosaurid/duck-billed variety, the Parasaur is well known for its long, arching head crest and duck bill. They most often appear as variations of ruddy, brownish, and dark-green, oft with vibrant, red, white, or yellow spines. You can also detect them in tan or blackness merely information technology is very rare. From a distance they tin be dislocated for a Carnotaurus or vice versa, equally they're like in size, basic shape and movement appearance when passive, so make sure to note head shape, arms, and bulk of the trunk, particularly around the base of operations of the tail, as the Carnotaurus is more lean.
Color Scheme and Regions [ ]
This department displays the Parasaur'south natural colors and regions. For sit-in, the regions below are colored red over an albino Parasaur. The colored squares shown underneath each region's clarification are the colors that the Parasaur volition randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a color to display its name and ID.
This data can exist used to alter the Parasaur'southward regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat panel. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6 would color the Parasaur'due south "body" magenta.

Tek Parasaur (Variant) [ ]
| " | The most beautiful Tek dino always. 😍 | „ |
| ~ Jen[2] |
The Tek Parasaur is a creature that was permanently added to the game in the Extinction Chronicles 4 event. It is a unique alternate of the original Parasaur, and is purely made of Tek. Unlike the original, they spawn at a 5% charge per unit, with a 20% higher level than usual.

Wild Stats Level-upward
Blazon in values of a wild fauna to see on which stats information technology'south emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very skilful for breeding. If you have already tamed your brute you can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool.[three]
Parasaur
The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps
Notation that after the creature is tamed information technology gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes information technology hard to call back the levels on a tamed fauna, so this tool is only for wild ones, just gives a starting time impression, how well the stats are distributed.
Taming [ ]
For general info nearly domesticating a wild creature see Taming.
KO Strategy [ ]
Knocking a Parasaur out is a tough thing to do, every bit they volition run much quicker than humans can, once they are attacked. One of the best strategies is to become the Parasaur stuck between some rocks or copse and merely punch information technology. Be conscientious not to damage it once it is knocked out as that affects the taming effectiveness.
There is also another method of knocking out a Parasaur, this method consists of using the bolas on its legs which immobilizes the beast. This leads to the beast existence open to punches/slingshots which will somewhen knock information technology out.
Another method is to use multiple players to "pen" the Parasaur into a location it tin can't escape, leading it towards rocks or structures.
Taming Food [ ]
Note that the values are for optimal cases, always bring extra supplies!
For a level-dependent count of resources needed, try an external taming calculator.

Gainsay [ ]
This department describes how to fight against the Parasaur.
General [ ]
Fighting a Parasaur holds no inherent danger, equally they will abscond upon initiating. The main risk from attempting to kill / KO a Parasaur is that while giving chase, the Parasaur leads the player into hostile territory. Parasaurs will not react if yous steal their eggs.
Strategy [ ]
The virtually efficient method is to initiate with a
Bola strike to the legs, immobilizing the Parasaur more than long enough to knock it downward with a
Wooden Club or spear information technology to death. Without a
Bola, the Parasaur volition run away when threatened, often getting itself stuck on rocks or trees, again leaving it vulnerable. A skillful idea for players without the bola engram is to position yourself away from where you wish to scare the Parasaur into such as a dead terminate or trees, this can turn a potentially lengthy chase into a quick kill. Quickly volley arrows into information technology or spears so information technology cannot become a chance to run in the offset place.
Dilo are good when trying to kill this dino at very little cost. A small pack of three or four will slow the parasaur to a speed the role player tin become some hits with a spear and kill it before it recovers.
Weaponry [ ]
Any weaponry will suffice in taking down a Parasaur, as long as it is used to its highest efficiency. Melee weapons should be used by launching an impromptu attack on the caput for greater impairment. Ranged weapons can take one downward during a chase.
Dangers [ ]
The Parasaur may run into more hostile areas when being chased, increasing the chance of aggravating more dangerous dinosaurs. A casual hunting political party tin can exist devastated by the appearance of a
Rex.
Weakness [ ]
Because Parasaurs are able to clip into other dinosaurs, y'all may observe running into them while hunting with a mount causes the Parasaur to lock into place. Otherwise, their relatively low health, fleeing nature and large size make them easy prey for a player of whatever level.
Utility [ ]
Roles [ ]
| " | Would be interesting! Right now nosotros encourage the taming of dinos to carry more than stuff. Parasaurs are great for this! | „ |
| ~ Jen most haversack suggestion[4] |
- Ship: While not able to carry as many supplies as larger creatures, Parasaurs are a good beginner'due south pack fauna (Level up Weight, Speed, and Stamina).
- Dino-Clamp/Parasaur Hunter: Because of the Parasaur's pocket-size footprint and relatively large hitting box it can clip into the hitting boxes of other wild Dinos and lock them in place, this is especially true of other Parasaurs. Simply pull up parallel to them and then rotate 90° so that y'all are heavily clipping into them, this will lock them in place and allow y'all to hands kill them with your Parasaur. This is an excellent source of very early on game meat and hide. Information technology's typically less reliable when locking other types of creatures in place, but still possible, you could for case lock a Trike in place and shoot tranq arrows into its head from a condom altitude where it will not swing to harm y'all or your Parasaur (Level up Wellness).
- Early on Drupe Gathering: While other dinos are more specialized at drupe gathering, even a low-level Parasaur can assemble dozens of berries in the time it would take a human to get together a handful. Parasaurs can brand it much easier for commencement survivors to collect enough Narcoberries to tame a more efficient berry gatherer such as a
Trike or
Stego; just be mindful of their narrow hitting radius when munching drupe plants - Living Tripwire: When placed in Turret mode, Parasaur can notify audibly and visually towards nearby threat. If used while ridden, it just visually detects for nearby threat. Enabling consumes food.
- Peace of Heed: Fifty-fifty for advanced players, Parasaurs set to turret/detection style can aid boost productivity by letting you know if someone or something is stalking yous from the bushes while you're occupied with a job. Rather than having to continually keep an eye out or fall victim to a surprise set on, allow them practise the worrying and surveying for you!
- Radar: Due to the Parasaur's unique power to discover enemies locations when on turret mode (or mounted), they can be used as a radar. This makes them very skilful for fresh survivors to avoid dangers. Notation: this does not tell you lot what the danger is, only a general location and that there is a general danger. So if you cannot come across what the danger is, be weary. It could be annihilation from a compy to a gigantosaurus. You just don't know!
- Phoenix Finder: Due to its enemy detection also works on wild
Phoenix, make it a perfect selection of finding it exterior Heatwave weather event. - Travel: Parasaurs are a skilful mount for a starting thespian, only can exist hard to corner due to their tendency to run away. While much slower than a
Raptor or
Sabertooth, they are faster than
Phiomia. Dissimilar other options however, the Parasaur is reasonably fast in and underwater; making information technology a good selection as information technology can outrun land based threats and outswim water based threats. With this and low stamina drain, even a reasonably trained Parasaur is capable of diving to underwater caves subsequently some speed and oxygen investment. Consider leveling merely speed and some oxygen, with stamina as needed. Their "ping" ability besides detects nearby possible enemies. Combined with the fact that they're relatively expendable, they're an idea option for exploration or quick travel through unsafe territory. - Gasoline/Oil/Metal/Element/Electronics subcontract: it'southward eggs can be hatched, babies raised then killed and harvested for the mentioned materials (must be Tek Parasaurolophus)
- Babysitter: A decent level Parasaur is capable of holding their ain against almost pocket-sized and some medium sized predators, making them a expert babysitter for beginner players. (Level Wellness and Harm)
- Their unique honk power as well allows them to scare away mid sized creatures for rubber travel.
- The post-obit modest dinosaurs will abscond if within its horn range:

Notes/Trivia [ ]
For information pertaining specifically to the real-earth Parasaur, see the relevant Wikipedia article.
- The genus name Parasaurolophus means 'near crested lizard', in reference to Saurolophus, which Parasaur was initially believed to be a shut relative of.
- The species name of the Parasaurolophus on the ARK, 'amphibio', is in reference to the species analogousness for water, beingness ofttimes constitute on the declension or almost rivers, every bit well equally its proficiency at swimming.
- Like many hadrosaurs, Parasaurolophus is thought to be able to walk on either two or four limbs. The animal would spend most of its time on 4 limbs, feeding or traveling long distances. When it needed to achieve higher to forage or move with speed to escape predators, it would raise up onto its hind limbs. The Parasaurolophus in ARK, however, appears to but walk using its hind limbs.
- The real life Parasaurolophus seems to be slightly larger than the Parasaur establish in ARK. The existent life variant also seems to take a bulkier body with a smaller head.
- Existent Parasaurolophus were social dinosaurs that lived in herds, Ark'due south Parasaur can occasionally be seen together but tin besides be seen without a herd.
- The Parasaur got a TLC that gave it the ability to detect creatures.
- It is the only TLC creature to not get a new model.
- The Parasaur is 1 of the merely creatures to become a saddle skin the others being the
Thorny Dragon and the
Ravager. - Information technology is one of the few creatures to spawn on all maps, forth with Raptor, Equus, Carnotaurus, and Coelacanth. This includes Aberrant varieties.
- I of the existent world Parasaur species is P. walkeri, named in honor of Sir Byron Edmund Walker. This is referenced in the game through the explorer notes left by Helena Walker and Edmund Rockwell.
